IRS Grants Tax-Exempt Status to Vision Credit
The Directors and
Officers of Vision Credit Education, Inc. are pleased to
announce that our application for tax-exempt status has been
approved by the Internal Revenue Service. The IRS approved the
designation of Vision Credit as a public charity as defined
under IRC 501(c)(3).
This designation
allows Vision Credit to receive tax-deductible donations from
individuals, corporations, foundations and government grant
providers. With this status, Vision Credit can now pursue the
grants and donations that are only available to approved
tax-exempt organizations.
The decision by the
Internal Revenue Service to grant tax-exempt status to a credit
counseling organization is a rare occurrence given the increased
scrutiny placed on credit counseling agencies by the IRS since
2003. It is a true credit to the activities and plans by our
founders and volunteers. We endured increased scrutiny and still
prevailed.
As a result, we are
positioned to receive grants and other funding that many other
credit counseling agencies are unable to receive. We plan to use
this advantage to increase funding for our existing social
programs so that we may expand our services.
This is a great
boost to the organization and a testament to the many hours of
dedicated service provided by all of our volunteers and Board of
Directors. We are excited that we can now further assist our
current clients as well as gain new ones. Look for great things
to come from Vision Credit Education!
