Finding a reputable credit counseling agency is essential in
order to get the quality of counseling that you deserve. When
your creditors are putting you under stress, it can cause you to
lose sleep, degrade your work performance and even test your
marriage or family relationships.Credit counseling can help
put your mind at ease because it helps to define the nature of
your financial problems and evaluate the extent of your
indebtedness. Highly trained and experienced credit counselors
can help you understand potential courses of action that can
help you get back on track.
Rhode Island does have fewer credit counseling organizations
serving it than most other states due to the small size. Despite
that fact, you can still get the highest quality of credit
counseling available.
Here is a listing of nonprofit credit counseling agencies
serving Rhode Island. These agencies are classified as
tax-exempt nonprofit organizations under Internal Revenue Code
501(c)(3).
Feel free to contact both organizations to determine which
agency you would like to work with. If you are in the Warwick
area, then you may wish to visit CCCS Credit Advisors. If you
are located outside of Warwick, then Vision Credit Education may
be able to assist.
CCCS Credit Advisors has served Warwick residents for many
years. Vision Credit Education was approved by the IRS as a
tax-exempt credit counseling agency in January, 2007 under the
more stringent guidelines that followed the scrutiny of the
credit counseling industry. Both organizations are approved to
provide quality credit counseling services.

Before You Call
Counseling sessions may vary, but they tend to last anywhere
from 45 minutes to an hour and a half. Counselors do frequently
allow more time so that you can ask as many questions as you
have without fearing a time limit.
Before you call, make sure that you have your relevant
information handy. Counselors like to have a good idea of the
types and amounts of financial obligations that you have so that
they can analyze your financial situation, factor in your
approximate net worth and help you create a detailed budget.
You should complete your counseling session knowing that you
may have multiple choices to consider. In addition, you should
finally know what options are most feasible and see the light at
the end of the tunnel!
