Your nonprofit credit counseling organizations will generally
provide you with more objective help when determining the
severity of your situation. You can also get more information on
how various options might be more or less beneficial based on
your situation.
Although your options for visiting a credit counselor are
somewhat limited, you can get good sound information from a
reputable credit counseling organization. To ensure that you are
dealing with a tax-exempt nonprofit organization, you may wish
to
search for charities at the IRS.
Sometimes the best help can be received from an agency that
relies on its reputation to receive referrals, rather than from
expensive television or radio advertisements. Make sure you get
help from a source that you trust.
The following agencies serve Vermont and assert that they
have tax-exempt nonprofit status as well as a charitable
mission. Feel free to contact several agencies for comparison.
